I want to have a novel published with a cover by Tom Canty some day.

I always wanted a novel with a Tom Canty cover, too. When my very first one (Swordspoint) got it, I knew my life had changed forever. People are always telling me - shamefacedly - that they only bought my book because of the Canty cover. To which I reply: ”Why not? That’s why they put pretty covers on novels by unknown first novelists!”

Since then, Tom & I have gone on to work together on the original hard & soft covers for my books Thomas the Rhymer, The Fall of the Kings, the paperback reissue of Swordspoint, the limited edition of The Man with the Knives … and now, the complete audiobook series of all three Riverside novels (yes, I know there’s one missing - I can’t wait to post it - just be patient… ;)! He is an amazing artist - careful, generous, literate, visionary … I hope you get your wish. Meanwhile, thanks for posting these!

I meant to add thanks to @heartofoshun for finding posting the original art for The Privilege of the Sword Neil Gaiman Presents audiobook “naked” — when we put the type on, the title obscured most of Tom’s glorious sword, which is a shame. But a tribute to Canty that his stuff looks great either way!

I read Ellen Kushner’s Swordspoint a few years ago and thought it was excellent, but The Privilege of the Sword is even better, I am happy to say. It takes place after Swordspoint but before The Fall of the Kings, which I haven’t read yet.

It’s ripping good fun, like any book about…
